About

Welcome to the blog of beansai. Through the years my appreciation for literature has grown immensely, despite my younger days of disliking a good deal of the literature I was forced to read for school. Looking back now, I have a new found appreciation for those books and their meanings. As books have always been a huge part of my life, I have always wanted to share them with those that I love (or don’t, it doesn’t really matter). The problem has always been that my friends and family never seriouslly take into consideration the recommendations I give them in regards as to what books they should read.

As a response to this sort of thinking, I decided to create a blog where I could provide reviews on literature that I have encountered, ranging from fiction to non-fiction and from prose to poetry, in hopes that I will reach a greater audience and hopefully convince them to take a novel in hand and lose themselves in another world.

I understand that there is a huge variety of genres to tackle and I am always looking to expand my literary horizons, so if you have any suggestions feel free to post them here or under the Recommendations page. One of my favorite time periods for literature is 19th century British literature. While I haven’t addressed too many books in this frame as of yet, I fully intend to do so. I will also provide an honest look at some of the works I will encounter in the classroom at my university.

UPDATE: As my blog has matured and so have I, I decided that it was time to update my About page, because as it turns out, this blog contains so much more then merely literature reviews. I have struggled for awhile with the fact that my blog had essentially turned into a combo-blog, or a blog that addresses both my personal life, as well as literature from a more objective stand-point. While the above lists primarily my intentions for this blog as more of a “pro” blog, I felt the need to expand the synopsis of Lit Bit. Literature is certainly a huge part of my life, especially since I am an English major, but it is not my only passion or activity. As a result, Lit Bit has become a bit of a hodge-podge of my life, including an outlet for my growing fascination with technology…mostly computers and the like, as well as the experiences of an Undergraduate student (and hopefully a Graduate student soon enough) and other personal aspects of living that deviate away from literature. I hope you enjoy this gander through my life and hobbies and please feel free to leave any comments or suggestions you may have for me.

  1. Ok, I have a suggestion for a review. I have been extrememly curious about the Harry Potter books admittedly, though I just can’t bring myself to read them at the present. With the final book being release, and I know you have purchased it, would it be possible if you could give an all encompassing review on the entire series? Let the rest of us adults who can’t bring ourselves to purchase these a chance to see what all the commotion is about.

  2. I had that plan ALL along…. My intention had always been to do an overall review of the series and then later on if required, a book by book review, but I think an overall is the most efficient (omg can’t think right now) way to go. So you can definitely count on it.
